On the occasion of EU Code Week from 10-18 October 2015 (http://codeweek.eu/ ), Sean Kelly MEP will host a breakfast meeting on 14 October 2015 about the Coolest Projects Awards, which is the only platform in Europe where young people can demonstrate and showcase the output of their coding skills and has been strongly supported by Intel.
Coolest Projects Awards is one of a kind in Europe. While there are many forms of coding clubs across Europe, Coolest Projects Awards is the only platform where young people can demonstrate and showcase the output of their coding skills. This provides the motivation to create and innovate to showcase at the annual awards. There is evidence already from Coolest Projects Awards of the entrepreneurial potential that can make a significant impact to economic output in Europe. It is estimated that by 2025 Coolest Projects Awards will attract 4000 projects.
This year, Coolest Projects Awards took place at the RDS in Dublin with over 500 projects entered and an attendance of 5,000 people. Young people from age 7 to 17 took part and demonstrated a high standard of projects across categories such as Scratch, HTML games, websites etc.
Closely aligned to EU policy, Coolest Projects Awards is a significant component of the solution to increasing innovation through Digital Skills in Europe.
